This is an on-site position at our Gallatin, TN Campus

Monday - Friday 1st shift

JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The objective of the Material Flow Coordinator is to facilitate the flow of materials in multiple cells of the factory, which include machining, heat treat, surface finish, outside processing, assembly, receiving inspection, shipping and receiving.

Ensures that the production personnel have the parts they need to produce the desired product in their assigned Production cells.

Oversees and ensures that the inventory is correct. Identifies and resolves problems involving production schedules and manufactured part shortages.

Coordinates the activities for the tactical execution of a production plan within the factory through issuing and managing work orders.

Provides work direction to hourly material handler(s) in the cells.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Utilizing MRP, releases work orders to support the Master Production Schedule. Manages the work orders to meet service level objectives, and ensures this data is current.
• Works with the buyer/planner regarding purchased part shortages. Performs back flushing of work orders.
• Ensures kanban’s are maintained per standard work.
• Creates and executes transfer orders with the Accokeek plant.
• Oversees the movement of rejected material to the MRB area or return to vendor. Performs the required inventory transactions in the ERP system.
• Develops and implements procedures for specific situations that will maintain inventory accuracy and management. Collaborates with peers in other cells to ensure consistent methodology.
• Ensure material handlers are performing accurate and timely transactions to reflect material location.
• Re-classes inventory when required.
• Finds and corrects root cause of material shortages.
• Coordinates the daily production schedules with production supervisors and technicians.
• Releases the purchase orders for outside processing and follows up with these vendors on delays.
• Ensures and updates the MRP planning parameters for manufactured parts to support lean objectives.
• Implements the output from the engineering release and change management process related to manufactured parts.
• Supports the buyer/planner on cost reduction projects as required.
• Identifies and drives process improvement for transactional processes.
• Shares best practices with Italian counterparts.

THER JOB FUNCTIONS:

Follows standard work developed for the department. Maintains electronic supplier files.

Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Gather and analyze information using Lean Thinking and develop/execute solutions.

Write clearly and informatively and present numerical data effectively. Prepare reports as requested by management.

Maintain a clean and neat workstation.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is generally performed while sitting or standing and in an office environment. Requires some walking to various departments in the plant. Light physical work in support of material movement and Lean activities on occasion

QUALIFICATIONS'ABILITIES:

Work experience in a machine shop environment.

Ability to manage and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting daily function requirements.

Basic problem-solving skills and lean manufacturing tools.

Knowledge and experience with ISO 9000 based quality systems.

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with project teams.

Proficient at Microsoft Office applications. Ability to utilize basic Excel data analysis tools. Working knowledge of ERP systems. JD Edwards E1 preferred.

EXPERIENCE'EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Management, Logistics, or Supply Management or associates degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
