What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Supervisor ILR position at BERGEN COMM COLLEGE?
The Institute of Learning in Retirement (ILR) is a Continuing Education and Workforce Development program at Bergen Community College. It serves the intellectual and social needs of a vibrant community of lifelong learners. Our members have a thirst for learning. Membership is open to all persons 55 and older. Current members come from a wide range of experiences and backgrounds. Courses are taught by members and experts from the larger community who volunteer their time to share their knowledge and passions. Each semester’s offerings cover a broad range of topics.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage all aspects of program development, staffing, promotional materials, marketing, instructional quality, and student relations on behalf of the Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development.
- Planning, scheduling, and monitor programs and other events.
- Oversight, management, and administration of various programs
- Cultivating relationships with public and private entities, profit and non-profit agencies; researching, evaluating and recommending programs, courses, and activities for development
- Identifying and developing non-credit educational courses for the ILR
- Ordering textbooks and related instructional materials and equipment
- Preparing, distributing, collecting and assessing course evaluations and learning outcomes
- Preparing schedules for courses, and other non-credit events; conducting orientations, and meetings to promote the Institute of Learning in Retirement and additional duties as assigned.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: BA/BS degree required; Master's degree preferred; or relevant industry experience.
Experience: Demonstrates achievement in developing, implementing, and assessing educational programs required. Experience in post K-12 educational programs in a community college environment is desirable. Background in Adult, Continuing, or Community Education preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working proficiency in various CRM software products, reporting tools, and web-based marketing. Experience with budgets and financial reporting is preferred, and you must have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite.

Other: Must be able to work with a diverse, multi-generational population. Must have private transportation and the ability to work a varied schedule, including the ability and willingness to work evenings as necessary.
This position will work 15-24 hours per week, depending on the time of year. The typical schedule will be Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Fridays as needed during the semester. ILR Programs run in the Fall and Spring semesters. Hours in the summer can be less depending on how the planning for the Fall Semester is managed by the candidate.
