What are the responsibilities and job description for the TA/PA-STEM Tutorial Supervisor position at BERGEN COMM COLLEGE?
To provide, coordinate, and assess tutorial services for students enrolled in STEM courses. This includes tutorial services such as one-on-one tutoring, in-class/in-lab tutoring, Math Hub support, and online tutoring across all BCC locations. Also, this position will lead all activities in relation to promoting tutorial support at BCC.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate STEM tutors
- Collaborate with the Mathematics Tutorial Supervisor and designated faculty liaisons in coordinating and conducting tutor training for tutors in the STEM fields
- Research and implement appropriate ways through which tutorial support services can be successfully promoted at BCC across all centers and locations
- Identify courses in need of tutorial support in the Math Hub
- Collaborate with the Mathematics Tutorial Supervisor in coordinating coverage for the Math Hub
- Communicate systematically with the Math Hub supervisors and faculty
- Serve as the liaison between the Math Hub and the CLAC
- Conduct systematic on-site visits at the Math Hub
- Assess systematically the In-Class and In-Lab tutorial support services as well as student and faculty satisfaction
- Co-coordinate and conduct regular training sessions for In-Class/In-Lab tutors
- Monitor the day-to-day operational needs of In-Class, In-Lab, and Math & Science Walk-In tutoring
- Conduct trainings for the tutors assigned to work outside of the CLAC premises
- Collaborate with the CLAC personnel
- Provide immediate assistance to tutors and students
- Monitor and evaluate tutorial sessions as well as monitor students’ tutorial attendance
- Coordinate study groups and workshops, as needed
- Collect and maintain data in regards to tutor training attendance, study group and workshop attendance, as well as assess student success and satisfaction
- Seek ways through which data can be collected and utilized for program improvement
- Provide supervisory coverage for the Math & Science Walk-In
- Participate in institutional assessment processes
- Generate reports regarding overall student attendance and progress within as well as outside the CLAC
- Research, recommend, implement, and assess resources, applications, procedures and activities for enhanced tutorial support services
- Meet with students and discuss CLAC policy and procedures as needed
- Serve as a liaison between the CLAC and designated departments
- Other duties as assigned
SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required. Demonstrated knowledge in college level STEM related courses required. Background in statistics and statistical analysis preferred.
Experience: 2 years effective supervisory experience in an educational setting required, preferably in a higher education or learning center environment. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required. Must be able to work with a diverse population.

Physical Requirements: This position has physical components which include, but is not limited to, sitting for extended periods of time at a computer station, standing for extended periods of time and the ability to quickly move from one room to another in a short amount of time. Thus, mobility in a fast paced environment is required.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- Annual Salary is $55,000-$60,000
- NJ Educators Health Plan with free Vision and Dental. NJ State Pension plan.
- 13 vacation days, 16 sick days, 5 personal days, 2 floating holidays, 3 partial sick, variations of skeletal days, all designated holidays and 5 non-designated holidays a year.
