Faculty Position Opening:
Teacher of Biology
The Biology Department at the Bergen County Academies is seeking a new colleague to join us as we teach our students fundamental biology concepts that will prepare them to conduct scientific research. This position is based in our Environmental Science Center (ESC), a fully-functional greenhouse and research facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach both introductory and high-level biology core courses including Biology, AP Biology, and Agriscience Research.
- Develop and teach new and existing elective courses. Some of our current electives may include among others Aquaponics, Plant Propagation, Botany.
- Run Agriscience-related clubs and competitions.
- Familiarity with agriscience research and FFA preferred.
Qualifications:
- Possess a NJDOE K-12 Instructional certificate – Biology endorsement OR obtain teacher certificate via Alternate Route Program.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Enjoy continuous learning, always seeking to learn new technologies and skills in biology.
- Deep commitment to building and sustaining inclusive learning spaces.
- New Jersey residency required within one (1) year of date of hire.
