Job Purpose:  Originate and develop ideas to design the mechanical form of manufactured products. Consult with engineering to establish design concepts and evaluate design ideas, applications and characteristics. Integrate findings and concepts and work with drafters to prepare design ideas and details.

Essential Functions

  1. Create and maintain drawings and material lists for fabricated parts.
  2. Complete simple drawings to Bergkamp standards with little to no supervision.
  3. Initiate and complete Engineering Change Notices for release of drawings and bills of material to production.
  4. Create product specification sheets for purchased items.
  5. Produce content for procedural standards, operation instructions and manuals.
  6. Work with Engineering groups for development of products, modifications to existing products, and tooling.
  7. Generate drawings for equipment assembly and customer support.
  8. Generate drawing pattern files for computer aided manufacturing equipment.
  9. Contribute to team effort by actively participating in team meetings.

  1. Currently enrolled in an Engineering Degree program or CAD Certification program. 
  2. CAD experience (preferably SolidWorks or another 3D drafting program).
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to co-workers and management.
  4. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and management.
  5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as job orders, procedure manuals, and schematics.
  6. Ability to write and business correspondence.  
  7. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages. 
  8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  9. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  10. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  11. Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products, data entry into Excel documents, SolidWorks, and Draftsight.
  12. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.   The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  2. The work environment is usually an indoor setting with frequent exposure to outside elements. The noise level in the work environment is frequently high.  In addition, other elements that an employee could be exposed to occasionally in this work environment are but not limited to; dust, dirt, fumes and odors, mechanical and electrical hazards, fire hazards, and an elevated workplace. This position requires infrequent travel, which may involve exposure to extreme weather elements.
