Description : Job Summary :
A sales associate within the Lawn & Garden Department will assist customers with purchasing merchandise and assist in maintaining departmental sales space.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
A Sales Associate is empowered to create an amazing and personal shopping event for all customers by providing the unparalleled customer service experience that Bering’s is well-known for
Working alongside the department team, a sales associate will participate in creating and maintaining an exciting, welcoming, and shoppable sales floor that will properly showcase our extensive Hardlines-related merchandise
Greets and initiates conversations with all customers within various Hardlines departments, maintaining a welcoming presence as well as an inviting and upbeat atmosphere
Develops and cultivates relationships with all Hardlines customers by learning their needs and preferences; able to discuss available products and make appropriate suggestions
Stays up to date and is knowledgeable on merchandise allowing for informed recommendations
Be a self-starter, be observant and act on the needs of the department
Actively participate in inventory restock; assists in maintaining orderly backstock and a clean shopping area
Requirements :
Qualifications / Required Skills :
Excellent communication and active listening skills allowing for great customer service and team communication
Prior experience in Lawn & Garden sales or trade skill along with customer service experience
Proficient computer skills (MS Office : Word, Excel and Outlook); ability to learn Point-of-Sale system
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining exemplary customer service
Ability to work independently, problem solve, and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, standard routines and accepted policies
Regular attendance, dependability & flexibility are a must; weekend availability is required
Physical :
Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout retail space
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds at a time and move fixtures on sales floor; be able to use a ladder, step stool and have the ability to push a flatbed cart; able to stoop and bend
