Berkeley College is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Assistant Director of Career Services - School of Health Studies to join our team working on-site at the Woodland Park, NJ campus. The successful candidate will support the seamless functioning of the Career Services Department under the guidance of the Senior Director. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring timely resolution of student and graduate concerns, and managing various administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing daily operations of the Career Services Department.
- Review and audit documentation and activities of Career Counselors as necessary.
- Address student and graduate issues promptly and effectively.
- Conduct one-on-one sessions following the cohort model in absence of senior management.
- Coordinate Federal Work Study scheduling and handle disciplinary matters.
Additional Duties:
- Provide personalized career advisement to college students and graduates, guiding them in their career development and job placement endeavors.
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with employers, organizations, and community resources essential for career opportunities.
- Demonstrate expertise in career management, recruitment strategies, and industry trends.
- Participate in employer engagement activities such as campus visits, departmental advisory boards, and recruitment events.
- Utilize social media platforms like LinkedIn for networking and outreach.
- Facilitate goal-setting and action planning to enhance placement outcomes.
- Prospect for internship opportunities and assist in placing interns.
- Tailor workshops, recruitment events, and guest speaker sessions to cater to specific majors.
- Maintain detailed records of employer contacts and student progress.
- Possess attention to detail and multitasking abilities while working with diverse audiences.
- Foster strong relationships with department heads, faculty, and other stakeholders.
- Help coordinate career fairs, networking events, and employer information sessions both on and off-campus.
- Stay updated on industry trends, labor market data, and best practices in career services to continuously improve offerings.
- Attend and participate in professional development events.
- Produce, promote, and handle logistics of employer - student / alumni events.
- Assist with other cohorts of students while employees are in transition or on leave.
- Build strong faculty and student relationships.
- Mentor, train and foster relationships with new staff and student employees.
- Assist with various on-campus committees.
- Come up with creative ideas to engage and retain students.
- Collaborate with other departments at the College.
- Assist other departments with student or alumni facing events.
- Develop marketing and promotional materials to increase awareness and engagement with career services offerings.
- Cultivate relationships with alumni to expand job opportunities and networking resources for current students.
- Serve as a liaison between students, alumni, employers, faculty, and staff to facilitate connections and opportunities.
- Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of career services programming and initiatives.
- Research and implement technology solutions to enhance virtual career services delivery and accessibility.
- Coordinate professional development events for students, such as industry panels, skill-building workshops, and alumni networking events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- 2-3 years of managerial experience, preferably in higher education or recruiting.
- Over 3 years of experience in recruiting or job development.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in professional social networking tools and platforms like LinkedIn.
- Experience in professional development, workshops, and recruiting.
