What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Coordinator Allied Health-Surgical position at Berkeley College?
The Clinical Coordinator for the Allied Health - Surgical Department is responsible for the placement and oversight of Surgical Processing Technician (SPT) and Surgical Technology (ST) students during their clinical rotation. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Health Studies, this onsite position is housed at the Woodland Park, NJ, campus. Occasional travel to the New Jersey campuses where the programs are offered is required multiple times throughout the semester.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating the Clinical Experience of SPT & ST Students :
- Process students' clinical clearance documentation to ensure compliance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of clinical clearance.
- Conduct clinical orientation for students prior to clinical placement.
- Schedule / Coordinate student clinical hours and assignments.
- Monitor students’ case specialties.
- Verify weekly that students have met their clinical objectives.
- Perform weekly audits of student daily case logs and daily evaluations to ensure current and accurate records.
- Weekly verification of case log entries into the cloud-based platform.
- In collaboration with the Program Chair verify the case logs completion at the end of each clinical rotation.
- In collaboration with the clinical preceptors ensure weekly and final evaluation of students’ progression during the clinical training are completed.
- Teach the lecture portion of the clinical practicum courses and maintain accurate attendance records.
- Act as liaison between the clinical affiliate staff and Berkeley College.
- Identify and secure new clinical affiliates as required by the programs.
- Maintain existing clinical affiliate sites and slots available for clinical instruction at each site.
- Document and maintain semester communications with all clinical affiliates, via clinical preplanning package, to relay important clinical information, (i.e. : upcoming schedule of clinical assignments, schedule changes, testing, documentation, etc.).
- Documented visits to all clinical sites on a regularly scheduled basis as approved by the Program Chair.
Other Internal Responsibilities :

The position is primarily onsite and includes off-site visits to clinical sites as well as to the New Jersey campuses where the programs are offered.
