Berkeley College is seeking a Director, Center for Academic Success to work at the Woodland Park, NJ location.
Berkeley College is dedicated to excellence in teaching and to providing students with the support necessary to become successful learners. Reporting to the Senior Director of the Center for Academic Success, the Director will be responsible for the coordination of the Center for Academic Success at the Woodland Park campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate with students, staff, and faculty to determine students’ academic needs and connect them to appropriate CAS resources, including proactive outreach to faculty and students, outreach based on CAS referrals
- Develop, promote, and execute learning strategies and programming resources for students.
- Collaborate with faculty to create and provide learning support for students in their courses. This includes workshops, embedded writing support in the Honors Program and course specific presentations.
- Collaborate with other student support departments to develop academic resources and programs or initiatives. This includes workshops, activities, and handouts.
- Coordinate with Accessibility Services department and Personal Counseling to ensure accommodations for ADA students
- Ensure a robust CAS tutoring program in course content, writing, computer skills, public speaking skills, and learning strategies, in collaboration with other CAS directors.
- Tutor graduate and undergraduate students individually and in small groups in an appropriate discipline
- Recruit, hire, and supervise full and part-time staff, peer, and professional tutors, as needed.
- Communicate with the School of Health Studies’ (SHS) Administrative Support Manager to coordinate testing. (Woodland Park campus)
- Represent department in college wide and campus specific initiatives and committees.
- Maintain a welcoming academic atmosphere in the CAS.
- Track and utilize data to determine tutor availability, programming, and trend forecasting.
- Coordinate student testing as needed, including but not limited to Challenge Exams and Accuplacer.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise proctors for Accuplacer testing on Director’s campus, as needed. Must be able to perform proctoring duties.
- Course design and teaching as needed. This includes collaboration with CCIT (Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology) and acting in teaching role in tutorials and courses.
