ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Serves Civil Process paperwork to various parties identified/named in judicial proceedings
- Assists in the Maintenance of Civil Process equipment, vehicles and facilities.
- Maintains records and files of Civil Process paperwork; logs all incidents involving such service.
- Abides by Berkeley County Employee handbook and the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office policies and procedures.
- Performs general administrative duties as appropriate.
- Promotes the activities of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office to civic groups and social organizations.
- Provides County officials with regular verbal and written updates on Civil Process activities.
- Works cooperatively with other Municipalities in Civil Process-related areas
- Participates, as required, in training programs for Berkeley County Sheriff's Department personnel.
- Serves Eviction Notices, Court Subpoenas, Notice of Suit Filings, Wrongful Occupation Notices, etc.
- Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma. Experience in the Civil Process is desired, but not essential.
- Extensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations relating to Civil Process
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Basic computer and data processing skills.
- Familiarity with Berkeley County roads and subdivisions
- Prolonged periods of sedentary work at a computer in an office setting.
- Should be able to lift at least 15 pounds.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of valid driver's license
- Firearms certified or obtainable.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends as needed
