SALARY RANGE: $35,000 TO $39,900

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Responsible for providing support to the Berkeley County Fire Board, which requires processing of yearly fees, balancing the end of day closeout of fees collected, typing, filing and operating various types of office equipment. The work will also involve extensive communication with the public and other public entities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:
1 Assists clients at the front desk and over the phone as needed with professionalism and accuracy.
2 Handle email correspondence as necessary.
3 Receive process and disseminate all office mail and packages as needed.
4 Accepts processes and prepares fire fee payments for deposit as needed.
5 Research and make updates to the billing system ensuring clients fee classifications are properly reflected per direction provided as needed.
6 Assists in preparing and mailing client bills yearly as needed.
7 Maintains files and records as required.
8 Performs all other duties as assigned/required.
9 Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow associates and the general public
10 Any other duties that may be assigned by the Admin or Assistant Director
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with office experience preferred. Individual must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and have an ability to learn new software programs and adapt easily.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1 Prolonged periods sitting at a desk
2 Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Possession of valid driver’s license.
2. This position may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
Berkeley County is an “At-Will” employer. However, new employees normally serve a probationary period of six (6) months before attaining regular status. The length of the probationary period may vary depending on the position and may be extended depending on performance. The probationary period is considered part of the examination process to determine the employee’s fitness for the position in which he/she was placed.
ANNUAL LEAVE, SICK LEAVE AND HOLIDAYS:
- Employees earn 1.0 day of sick leave & 0.5 day of personal leave per month annually with unlimited accumulation.
- Berkeley County observes 14 paid holidays per year and Primary and General Election Days as they occur.
- Employees accumulate annual leave according to the following schedule:

0 – 5 years 1.25 days 15 days
5 – 10 years 1.50 days 18 days
10 – 15 years 1.75 days 21 days
15 years plus 2.00 days 24 days
HEALTH, RETIREMENT & MISCELLANOUS BENEFITS:
- Regular full-time employees are required to participate in the West Virginia Public Retirement Plan
- Life Insurance is available to full-time employees
- Regular full-time employees will join the County sponsored health plan which includes medical, hospitalization, major medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage. The Fire Board will pay up to 100% of the employee’s costs (depending on election) and the employee pays for any dependent coverage elected.
- Mandatory direct deposit is available to any banking institution designated by the employee.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.82 - $19.18 per hour
