Job Details
This is a stepdown nursing position at Berkeley Medical Center in the PCU/Stepdown unit with 20 private beds. Responsibilities include managing patients on various drips and monitoring cardiac conditions.
Job Requirements
- Current BLS (AHA) certification is mandatory.
- Active ACLS (AHA) certification is also necessary.
- The submission process requires an unexpired copy of your driver's license.
- Applicants must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility.
- Permanent candidates who have previously held this position must be away from the facility for at least two years.
- Travelers who have held this position must also be away from the facility for at least two years.
Schedule Information
Shifts typically last 12 hours, ranging from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend is required, and holidays may be scheduled based on unit needs. Schedule requests must be entered at least two weeks in advance.
Unit Specific Information
The unit operates with a staff-to-patient ratio of 1:5 for both day and night shifts. Common patient diagnoses include elevated troponin levels, NSTEMI, and post-surgical patients. Orientation typically lasts one to two days, depending on the nurse's experience level.
Additional Details
A COVID vaccine is mandatory; exemptions can be made for medical or religious reasons. The unit has a floating Charge Nurse position that rotates between floors. Navy blue scrubs are required, with specific guidelines for attire.
