"DESCRIPTION: Prepare and deliver standards-aligned ESL instruction equipping adult students with language and cultural proficiencies so that they may participate fully in American society, advancing to higher levels of training and to better jobs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide instruction that enhances the development of language fluency and thinking skills of learners. Deliver balanced instruction that develops students’ receptive English-language skills of listening and reading comprehension, and their productive English-language skills of speaking and writing. Align instruction to the English Language Proficiency Standards, using program-adopted instructional materials. Integrate language acquisition with relevant life experiences. Present differentiated instruction that responds to the varied English language levels of students. Integrate English literacy and civics education into instruction. Cooperate in the administration of CASAS tests. Report attendance in a timely manner using attendance accounting system. Complete and submit all required data and accountability documentation in a timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid non-emergency California teaching credential authorizing instruction to adults in the subject area. Master’s Degree in TESOL, Linguistics or related field desirable. TESOL certificate desirable. Teaching experience in ESL to adults is preferred. Additional criteria will include, but not be limited to, experience, training, and seniority. A demonstration lesson may be part of the interview process, and candidates may be invited to return at another date. SCHEDULE: Morning, afternoon or evening positions may be available. Morning classes M-F 8:25-11:35, Afternoon classes M-F 12:35-3:45, Evening classes M-Th 6:20-9:30. You may respond to this posting if you wish to serve as a substitute teacher in BAS’ ESL program. We seek teachers for immediate openings and for school year 25/26."

DESCRIPTION: Prepare and deliver English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), aligned ESL instruction designed to equip adult students with language and cultural proficiencies so that they may pursue their career, college, and life aspirations.  Provide learning environments that enhance the development of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking skills to non-native speakers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide instruction that enchances the development of language skills of learners.  Deliver balanced instruction that develops students' receptive English-language skills of listening and reading comprehension, and their productive English-language skills of speaking and writing, guided by BAS ESL course outline.  Integrate language acquisition with relevant life experiences. Present differentiated instruction that responds to the varied English language levels of students.  Apply English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) for assessing the major accomplishments of students, and adhere to the ESL exit level criteria for this level.  Integrate English Literacy and Civics Education (EL Civics) into instruction.  Report attendance in a timely manner using attendance accounting system.  Complete and submit all reqired data and accountability documentation in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid, non emergency California teaching credential authorizing instruction to adults in the subject area (Community College credential is not acceptale).  Master's degree in TESOL, Linguistics or related field preferred; TESOL certificate desirable.  Candidates who have studied and gained proficiency in a second langauge preferred.  Teaching experience in ESL to adults is preferred.  Additional criteria will include, but not be limited to: experience, training and seniority.

All applicants should prepare and submit a model lesson plan for a specified ESL level at the interview.  A demonstration lesson may be part of the interview proces, and candidates may be invited to return at another date.
