In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements :
- Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
- Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
- Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
- Remain in "valid" Visa status as applicable.
- A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
- Federal Work Study student may apply.
- In good disciplinary standing.
- Must be located in the U.S.

The Summer Programs Student Life Assistant (SPSLA) will report directly to the Pre-College and Professional Programs Administrator and assist with organizing and executing all Summer Programs extracurricular events. The SPSLA will support and oversee a range of activities, many of which may take place on evenings and weekends. In addition to event planning and coordination, this role will collaborate with other Summer Programs staff to provide event support, customer service, and administrative assistance. The SPSLA will also assist with program check-ins and contribute to day-to-day operations as needed to ensure a positive experience for Berklee Summer Programs students and their families.
The Summer Programs Student Life Assistant (SPSLA) will play a key role in supporting the student life experience for Berklee Summer Programs. In the spring, they will assist with event planning, marketing, and the housing assignment process, while also answering general student life inquiries from students and their families. During the summer, the SPSLA will organize and oversee a variety of activities and events aimed at fostering connections among students and enriching their overall experience at Berklee. These events may include movie nights, outings to local attractions, the Five-Week Opening Carnival, and Red Sox outings, among others.
The SPSLA will work closely with the Summer Programs Student Life Assistant Managers, who will help them execute events and coordinate chaperoning duties. The SPSLA will assist with program check-ins, helping to manage lines and troubleshoot any issues. Additional duties may include administrative tasks such as contacting vendors, answering phones, making referrals, filing, photocopying, and ordering supplies as needed.
Requirements
As the primary responsibility of this position will be to assist with event planning and execution, previous event planning and customer service experience is highly preferred. The ideal candidate would possess a high degree of professionalism and maturity, solid communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently throughout their employment by prioritization, detail-oriented workflow, and time management skills. We desire an open, honest, self-motivated, culturally sensitive team leader who is a self-starter and a positive role model for other students.
The role requires close collaboration with the Summer Programs Operations and Student Life teams. The ideal candidate must maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive communications, as well as potential disciplinary and health-related matters.
The student must be able to work 12-15 hours per week. Over the summer, early morning, evening, and weekend hours will also be required to help with check-ins for the programs, and to run student life events for Summer Programs students.
