Study Abroad Student Ambassador (Federal Work-Study)

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements : Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. This role is ideal for students passionate about global education, mentorship, and community engagement.This job requires federal work-study eligibility and U.S. domestic status.What is federal work-study (FWS)? If you have any questions regarding your federal work-study eligibility, please contact the One Stop.All applications will be automatically reviewed by Student Employment for federal work-study eligibility.Key ResponsibilitiesOffer one-on-one and small group peer advising on study abroad opportunities, application processes, and pre-departure preparation.Conduct outreach to students preparing for or returning from study abroad, providing guidance and encouragement.Represent the Berklee Study Abroad team at tabling events, class visits, and fairs to increase program visibility.Assist with the creation of social media content and other promotional materials.Participate in training sessions to develop advising, communication, and mental health first aid skills.Support special events, such as International Education Week and Study Abroad Day.Required QualificationsStrong interpersonal and communication skills.Enthusiasm for study abroad and global education.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Personal experience having studied at the Berklee Valencia campus through a study abroad semester or academic year, First Year Abroad, and / or Summer Program.CommitmentApproximately 5 hours per week during the academic semester, with occasional additional hours for special events.Compensation : $17.00 per hourThis role offers meaningful professional development opportunities and a chance to inspire others to embark on transformative global experiences.Program GoalsPeer Support Provide one-on-one and small group advising to assist peers with study abroad planning and questions.Community Building Act as peer community connectors to enhance support programs and promote student engagement.Skill Development Learn and practice interpersonal communication, advising, and mentoring skills to prepare for global citizenship.Program Visibility Promote the Study Abroad program through tabling, classroom visits, and events to increase awareness and participation.Outreach & Mentoring Conduct personalized outreach to students preparing for or returning from study abroad, fostering a supportive community.Content Creation Collaborate on creating social media and other promotional materials to highlight study abroad opportunities and experiences.Event Support Contribute to special events, such as International Education Week and Study Abroad Day, to showcase the program's offerings.Professional Training Participate in training sessions on advising, mental health first aid, and study abroad essentials to ensure effective peer support.Student Ambassador Core ValuesAmbassadors will : Provide 1 : 1 and / or small group peer support to applicable studentsDevelop the necessary skills to be a peer community connector to enhance student support programs and servicesLearn interpersonal communication skills that will prepare them to be global citizensProgram LeadsDirector of International Student Services & Study Abroad : Dr. Roberto ArrudaAmbassador Supervisors Associate Director for Study Abroad : Craig McDonaldInternational Education Coordinator : currently vacantAcademic Year : Standard ActivitiesDrop-in Peer Advising Hours Each week, Ambassadors will be available in the Student Success Center for drop-in peer advising during designated times each day.The standard hours will be posted online and shared widely to encourage all Berklee students to drop-in to ask questions about study abroad.Scheduled Peer Advising Similar to the SAMs program, Study Abroad Ambassadors will also be available for a certain number of scheduled peer advising sessions each month for any student who wishes to meet with one of them specifically.Pre-Departure & Arrival Mentoring Individual outreach with a specific group of outgoing students during the months leading up to their departures for an upcoming semester abroad.Individual outreach to a specific group of newly-arrived FYA students during the months following their initial arrival on the Boston campus.Ambassadors will individually contact their assigned cohort to encourage communication, correspondence, and an individual conversation.On-campus Tabling Berklee Study Abroad will periodically have tables, staffed by Student Ambassadors, in the lobbies of 150 and 160 Mass Ave, as well as other relevant locations, to increase the visibility of Berklee Study Abroad on campus and encourage student engagement.LENS Class Visits The Associate Director of Study Abroad will schedule class visits every semester to each first-year LENS class;
