Responsibilities
Berkley Environmental is currently seeking a Sr. Claims Attorney. The candidate would be responsible for the oversight and management of primary and excess Environmental, Professional Liability and General Liability claims including coverage review, investigation, evaluation and eventual disposition.

Responsibilities
Berkley Environmental is currently seeking a Sr. Claims Attorney. The candidate would be responsible for the oversight and management of primary and excess Environmental, Professional Liability and General Liability claims including coverage review, investigation, evaluation and eventual disposition.
Key functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Determine the scope and extent of available coverage
- Prepare and execute investigation strategies which identify critical issues effecting liability causation and damages
- Assess risk transfer and contribution opportunities.
- Communicate with internal and external customers including insured’s brokers and underwriters
- Document exposure evaluation and resolution strategy
- Present/roundtable claims disposition strategies to senior management
- Direct and assist defense counsel on litigated claims.
- Attend mediations, trials/settlement conferences as warranted.
- Establish with defense and coverage counsel clear ground rules in order to maintain financial control of budget and expenses
- 4-year college degree
- J.D. preferred
- 10-15 years Commercial/Industry claims experience
- Environmental and General Liability claims experience required
- Strong negotiation skills
- Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation management including ADR and mediation process
- Experience attending and controlling cases; pre-suit, litigated and post-trial
