Responsibilities
As a Risk Services Specialist, you will visit our customer's (insured's) site locations to inspect their facilities to identify potential risks. You'll perform detailed risk assessments, meet with clients and underwriters to discuss your findings, and provide recommendations to mitigate risks. We'll trust you to partner with the underwriters with reisk selection, to influence the profitability and retention of the account. You'll help customers improve their properties and complex business operations and follow up with them to ensure safety measures are implemented.
You'll be critical to the organization's success because you'll directly influence our ability to manage risks, reduce losses, and maintain high safety standards. By ensuring our clients' operations are safe and compliant, you help protect our reputation and contribute to our overall success. - Consult and Advise: Survey moderate to high complexity business operations and consult with customers and underwriting to determine the type and level of exposures and controls needed
- Account Management: Provide services to assigned accounts to influence profitability and retention
- Relationship Building: Manage relationships with internal and external partners, including underwriting, claims, product, marketing, and agencies
- Training and Mentoring: Conduct training sessions, mentor staff, and occasionally provide specialized technical advice and counsel
- Risk Surveys: Perform surveys to identify safety issues and hazards, and develop accident prevention programs.
- Reporting and Recommendations: Prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations for improving safety
- Compliance and Safety: Consult with insured parties to control losses and improve safety, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations
- Technical Training: Assist in creating and delivering technical training to the field risk services team
- Regulatory Updates: Monitor and update staff on changes to local, state, and federal safety laws Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by management
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
- 8 property/casualty risk control experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent problem analysis/resolution, time management and prioritization skills
- Strong customer orientation and interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; company business systems and various analytical tools to evaluate data
- Ability to travel on a regular basis and work outside normal work schedule to fulfill responsibilities
- Valid driver’s license required
- Licenses/Certifications/Designations: CSP, CFPS, CDS, CIH designation preferred. Completion of or working toward AINS, ARM, CPCU or similar professional insurance designation
- Bachelors degree with emphasis in occupational/industrial safety, agricultural science, engineering or insurance
- Ability to mentor and get results through others
- Training/presentation experience desired
