Responsibilities
In this entry level role as a Claims Trainee, you’ll have the opportunity to join a dynamic team and kickstart your career in the insurance industry! You will investigate and resolve non-injury, auto physical damage, commercial vehicle and property damage claims. You’ll learn job excellence and key technical claims capabilities:
- Examine policies, contracts, and claim forms to determine coverage.Investigate losses, evaluate exposures, establish accurate reserves, and negotiate settlements on high-frequency, low-severity claims.
- Enter recovery checks into the claims system and review them monthly.
- Correctly enter claim data into claim systems for documentation purposes.
- Obtain information to set up and create new claims and monitor vendor claim setups.
- Obtain required state adjuster licensing.

We’ll count on you for your:
Communication
- Provide exceptional customer service and assistance while handling incoming/outgoing correspondence and communications.
- Answer general calls for the claims department, assisting callers or directing them to the appropriate claims staff.
- Resolve insured, broker, and claimant inquiries with exceptional customer service.
Customer Focus & Team Work
- Collaborate with other departments on claim files in subrogation, special investigation, and salvage recovery.
- Work closely with internal and external customers to ensure prompt, courteous, and accurate service.
Flexibility
- Handle special projects and tasks as assigned.
- Engage in training opportunities for claim handling, including general liability, bodily injury, property, and litigated claims.
Delivering Results
- Issue accurate payments within established authority levels.
- Re-evaluate exposures and reserves during the life of the claim.
- Perform organizational functions for the claims department, including entering data for coding claims, reserving, loss, and expense payments.
Qualifications
What You Need to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree or two years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, decision-oriented environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet all established deadlines.
- Flexible team player.
- Ability to communicate with a high level of professionalism with internal and external customers.
