Responsibilities

The Underwriting Director is responsible for the appropriate management of key underwriting initiatives, project management, and key account handling.    

 

Management

BOG’s/BRE’s success is dependent upon our ability to work together to accomplish our goals.  Key management duties and responsibilities include:

• Project management of company and underwriting initiatives.
• Leading our underwriting compliance practice or handling key compliance tasks.
• Engage other practice areas to accomplish goals.
• Report to Sr. Management progress of initiatives, as well as track and verify execution after completion.
• Provide recommendations for improvements to the underwriting risk evaluation approach

 

Underwriting Discipline

Consistently demonstrate underwriting discipline as follows:

• Adhere to our underwriting approach, guidelines and authority levels.

• Demonstrate excellent knowledge of BOG/BRE’s risk appetite.
• Demonstrate excellent exposure and control analysis, and profitably write business to achieve company financial goals.
• Submit referrals as required, including key account information and recommendations.

 

Customer and Broker Relationships

Service brokers and clients to meet or exceed their expectations:

• ​​Develop and maintain excellent business relationships with assigned agents and brokers.
• Develop brokers relationship by furthering BOG's/BRE’s value proposition.

• Participate in client meetings/calls to demonstrate BOG's/BRE’s value.
• Meet/exceed service standards for clients and brokers.

 

Value Proposition

Consistently demonstrate knowledge and utilization of BOG’s/BRE’s value proposition through the following:

• Create a deep understanding of BOG/BRE resources and services and identify opportunities for our customers to take advantage of them.
• Demonstrate ability to identify services that would potentially be of most value to customers.

Qualifications

• 10 years casualty underwriting/management experience.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound business decisions.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Ability to build trust and gain credibility with co-workers and business partners.
• Ability working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Technically competent with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Operational systems.
• Demonstrate effective written, oral, and listening communication skills in a way that will contribute to the highest quality of service to both internal and external customers and team members.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm, focused, and confident in all situations.
• Highly self-motivated and directed.
• Advanced time management and follow-through skills.

 

Education Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Insurance or Business, or equivalent experience
