We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Finance to join the leadership team. Responsibilities:
● Financial Strategy and Operations:
- Oversee and optimize all financial functions, including accounting, AR/AP, bookkeeping, and closing the books.
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business goals. ○ Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
● Leadership and Collaboration:
- Manage a small team, including roles overseeing testing, warehouse operations, and sales.
- Work closely with leadership to drive operational efficiencies and ensure financial alignment.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and team members on financial matters.
● Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, in collaboration with the in-house accounting team.
- Manage shareholder communications and cap tables, as needed.
- Oversee financial reporting and maintain accurate records.
● Business Development and Partnerships:
- Lead contract negotiations with external partners.
- Support the development of supply chain strategies and explore opportunities for operational improvement.
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
● 5 years of hands-on financial accounting and controller experience.
● Demonstrated expertise in AR, AP, bookkeeping, and closing books.
● Proven success in small-company environments, wearing multiple hats.
● Strong independent work ethic, trustworthiness, and adaptability.
● Commitment to working on-site in Monterey, CA, with some flexibility for remote work.
Desired Qualifications:
● Background in agriculture or supply chain management.
● Experience with international operations and contract negotiations.
● Knowledge of shareholder management and cap tables.
● Passion for mission-driven work and operational involvement.
Technology Proficiency:
● Adept at leveraging technology to streamline financial operations.
