Summary of essential job functions
- Customer Service. Greet and take care of every customer that enters the department. Address all customer requests and concern in a timely manner.
- Uphold department standards by ordering, pricing, and merchandising all deli/bakery items.
- Ensure that all deli/bakery products are up to company standards of freshness and prepared according to company procedures.
- Manage the deli/bakery associates by allocating and assigning tasks based on business needs.
- Staff the department. Partake in interviews for your department. We have a seasonal business and need to create staffing plans accordingly.
- Scheduling for the Deli & Bakery Departments
- Handle Employee Relation issues in your department. Partner with your store manager and HR department when needed to address performance/conduct issues.
- Provide training to new hires as well as existing employees in your department. Work to cross train employees in and out of your department.
- Communicate to the bakery/deli team store events going on, new products, change in procedures, etc.
- Uphold the company’s safety standards in your department. Teach and train all employees on these standards. In case of injury, all injuries need to be reported to the management team.
- Ensure you kitchen and food handlers are complaint with the IL Health Code Rules and Regulations.
- Maintain a broad knowledge of bakery/deli products.
- Keep up on special deli/bakery ordering needs that arise for certain times of the year or for holidays, as well as cooking trends.
- Review past sales records and current forecasted numbers to make the best staffing and ordering decisions.
- Write your department schedule for all associates to align with stores payroll budget. Staff departments according to the needs of the business.
- Manage department loss of product. Handle and process all loss according to company policy.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements
- 18 years of age
- ability to lift 40 pounds
- ability to stand for 5 consecutive hours
