Berks Counseling Center is a recovery-oriented behavioral health, physical health, and supportive services organization providing a holistic approach to a culturally and economically diverse population for the purpose of achieving a healthy and productive lifestyle.
As the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you will care for the physical and behavioral health needs of population with serious mental illness (SMI). You will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team that provides therapy, case management, peer and recovery support, and medical support to our consumers. As an LPN, you will be doing community-based work to assist clients in coordination of physical health care and psychiatric services. You will play a vital role in the care of clients with SMI by engaging with community resources to help clients with SMI address their social determinant of care needs.
You will…
- Provides in-home, community, hospital, and transitional care supports/interventions to patients.
- Help and support the psychiatric and physical health providers in meeting the overall health and behavioral needs of clients receiving psychiatric evaluation
- Educate, counsel, and support patients in relation to their behavioral health, physical health, and overall wellness care.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures related to health, medication, and psychiatric care.
- Assist in attaining patient’s temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI) and injections.
- Have flexible hours – morning/afternoon (early evening) shifts.
Requirements
To qualify for the position, you will need…
- To be Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse, active in the state of Pennsylvania required.
- At least one (1) year experience in a behavioral health setting.
- A valid PA Driver’s License.
- Basic Life Support certified.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week within agency hours of operation, which are 8am-8pm Mon-Thurs, 8am-4pm Friday with Saturday hours, when applicable.
- There expectation of flexible work hours based on client needs. Includes on call duties as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to see well enough to read reports and use computer.
- Must be able to communicate well enough to clients, vendors, and coworkers.
- Must have mobility to move about the agency. Must have mobility to move about the community.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to write, type and use technology.
Preferred candidates will …
- Be Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
- Have knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed approaches preferred.

These clearances must be valid within the 60 months prior to employment. A conviction is not a bar to employment; however, a review will be conducted to make a determination of employment should a conviction be present.
- Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure.
- Confirmation that you are not on the OIG Federal Healthcare Program Exclusion from Participation list. Should you appear on this list, Berks Counseling Center is prohibited from employing you.
- This position may require you to operate BCC’s company car or transport clients, so you must provide a 10-Year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and a valid Driver’s License
