Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, English or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
A minimum of one to three years of experience in a communications, public relations or media relations function in a professional work environment.
Exceptional oral and written communications skills and high attention to detail and level of judgment.
Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills. Must be proficient in Associated Press style. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Understanding of communications tactics and strategies, media relations and social media. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Strong organizational skills. Proficient in electronic communications.

Assists with monitoring daily news coverage of businesses as directed; compiles coverage into daily reports delivered to executives and managers; assists with assembling media reports during special events. (40%)
Supports distribution of messages to Berkshire Hathaway Energy employees. (20%)
Helps develop and create digital content for internal and external Berkshire Hathaway Energy websites. (15%)
Provides editing and proofing support as needed. (10%)
Contributes to team corporate projects, including business reporting and data analysis. (10%)
