Job Description
BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity as a Relay Technician / Senior Relay Technician at our Cove Point Facility in Lusby, MD.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have experience as a journeyman level plant or substation electrical experience and experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining protective relays.
Responsibilities include :
- Serve as a journeyman, qualified to perform all the duties of a Relay Technician, able to perform all tests and adjustments, and able to diagnose and correct the most complex relay and control systems.
- Knowledgeable in the use of multimeters, relays (GE / SEL / Beckwith), relay test equipment, and relay software.
- Install, maintain, test, adjust, troubleshoot and repair relay equipment.
- Knowledgeable of solid state and microprocessor protective relays, indicating and KWH / KW meters, recording instruments including sequential event recorders and digital fault recorders, controls to all substation apparatus including breakers, transformers, regulators, capacitors, reactors and all associated equipment, and remote-control equipment, including various forms of SCADA.
- Work closely with Engineering to manage relay settings, passwords, Management of Change, adjustments, etc.
- Perform testing on substation apparatus such as power factor testing, transformer turns, ratio testing, megger testing, and other analytical tests.
- Operate substation equipment, including switching and grounding.
- Follow safety rules and company standards.
- May work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas and may work with bucket and boom trucks.
- May work independently or with others, occasionally work long hours during emergency conditions, and be responsible for tools, test equipment, and vehicles.
Qualifications
Must apply for and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
