Job Description
The purpose of this position is to manage business unit support efforts to improve employee safety performance, ensure regulatory compliance and manage the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Program. Analyze results, recommend training and other actions, as well as ensure accurate, timely documentation.
Responsibilities
Ensure regulatory compliance with all federal, state and local safety requirements. Analyze trends, recommend and enact change. Manage company compliance with the Department of Transportation hazardous waste program and requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Program. Manage the audiometric program and ensure the program is in compliance. Manage and maintain all compliance records in accordance with company policies and procedures. Assist in the development of company procedures, policies and standards necessary for uniform safety practices. Observe employee activity and workplace conditions. Encourage and report safe behaviors. Make recommendations to correct deficiencies, eliminate hazards and improve overall performance and maintain zero Occupational Safety and Health Administration violations. Recommend, plan, organize and execute efficient and effective targeted training for safety programs and initiatives. Assure training documentation is current and correct in the training database. Coordinate safety management activities and initiatives with operations management, technical services, engineering and regional safety & loss control specialists for consistent application. Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned, including but not limited to advising safety committees and / or program participants.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, environmental, business or related field or the equivalent progressive related work experience. Typically, six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree. Four years of experience in pipeline operations and / or safety compliance / risk avoidance. Four years of experience in Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration programs. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and oral (one-on-one and group) communication skills, including presentation skills. Extensive experience prioritizing and handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Knowledge of local, state, federal and company operating requirements and regulations. Training skills to conduct training as needed. Computer skills in Microsoft Office. Project management skills : ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
Be available to travel for field visits, audits and training, as needed. Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement for this position.
