Responsibilities
We are seeking an AVP Actuary who is interested in playing a leading role as we transform GUARD into a top tier commercial insurer. Your work in our dynamic, fast-paced atmosphere will have a direct impact on our results. This position is a key role within the actuarial team, directly managing a growing staff and reporting to the chief pricing actuary. The candidate will have responsibilities and exposure on the analysis, monitoring and presentation of multiple projects including telematics, rate indications, and new program analysis. The candidate should have strong technical and analytical skills, be able to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences and be able to influence business partners. The position can be located anywhere in our office footprint of Wilkes-Barre (PA), New York City, Parsippany (NJ), Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, or Phoenix. The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required
Responsibilities to Include:
- Strategically oversee pricing, analysis, and filings for Commercial Auto and Programs
- Collaborate with Underwriting and Sales teams to develop products and manage programs
- Evaluate new program opportunities for profitability and fit within the company’s strategic plan
- Strategically collaborate with the data science team to develop innovative rating solutions for the Commercial Auto book
- Lead and develop a growing team
- Strategically communicate analyses and results to business partners, the Chief Actuary, the CEO, and other Senior Leaders
Qualifications
- Extensive experience of eight or more years in actuarial roles within commercial insurance, with Commercial Auto experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate results and strategic drivers to senior management while fostering partnerships with key stakeholders
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and model results
- Strategically results-oriented with a proven ability to multitask and adapt priorities as needed
- Proficiency in VBA, SQL, or R preferred
- ACAS or FCAS certification required
