Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Quality Assurance Analyst to join our Boston-based Technology Team. BHSI provides commercial property, casualty, healthcare professional liability, surety, executive, and professional lines insurance to global customers and our Technology team is creating and supporting multiple complex applications to support these businesses. An ideal candidate will have hands-on technical experience with Enterprise Applications, ensuring our business has the highest quality data to make informed decisions, i.e., ensuring that the information is trustworthy and suitable for analysis, decision-making, reporting, or other data-driven activities. The Data Quality Assurance Analyst is accountable for engaging business users and Technology team members throughout the lifecycle of projects and supporting releases to production. In this role, you will actively engage and work with onsite and offshore consulting partners to execute our quality assurance activities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Play a hands-on role in testing large datasets to determine data quality and integrity.
- Able to interpret & analyze data sources to understand their content, structure, and quality.
- Understanding of business processes & Enterprise Data warehouse (EDW) structure to contribute to data integrity.
- In-depth requirements, user stories & schema analysis, and developing detailed test scenarios for effective execution.
- Participate in the overall test planning & execution of Data QA team testing objectives (test planning, design, execution, defect management, and reporting).
- Collaborate with onsite analysts and offshore testing partners to develop and execute test scenarios to determine data quality and integrity.
- Engage directly with business users during User Acceptance Testing to facilitate validation & troubleshoot user feedback.
- Collaborate with peers and management to develop process standards and/or enhancements to prevent the recurrence of defects/bugs.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in troubleshooting sessions with development teams for timely turnaround of critical issues.
- Understanding quality metrics and implementing measurements to determine test effectiveness and efficiency.
- Adhering to best practices in data analysis & collection.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data quality analysis or a similar field.
- Proficiency in working with Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Experience working with Azure Databases, XML files, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL scripting.
- Knowledge of ETL / ELT tools and DWH architecture.
- Knowledge of best practices in data analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently when needed.
- Must be highly motivated and demonstrate interpersonal skills.
- Understanding SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and STLC (Software Testing Lifecycle), including end-to-end testing concepts.
- Knowledge of defect management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Quality Center, or any other defect tool.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize and track multiple deliverables and concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Databricks, Snowflake, Fabric, etc. is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Duck Creek Platform or equivalent P&C system and associated integrations.
- Knowledge of Data Automation Tools, such as Data Trust, Datagaps, etc, is a plus.
- SQL certification or any relevant test / Information Technology certification is an advantage.

The base salary range for this position in Boston, MA is $85,000 to $115,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
