Duties & Responsibilities
- Define QA strategy, approach, and execution in all platform engineering projects.
- Act as a thought leader within the Engineering organization, implementing policies and procedures for the software quality assurance function.
- Champion best practices in the quality area.
- Develop and implement SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) QA goals to meet QA Objectives, monitoring quality KPIs to reduce defects, improve customer experience, and prevent data issues.
- Design and implement performance testing strategy to improve customer experience and lead conversion.
- Own and manage our test environments by partnering closely with the DevOps/platform engineering team to integrate QA automation into the CI/CD pipelines and test automation.
- Encourage and build automated processes wherever possible.
- Engage in Agile Methodology ceremonies/sprints to inform appropriate data quality and testing considerations as part of acceptance criteria and sign-off process.
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters/Project Managers and Development teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality features.
- Evaluate and cross-train on the integration of technical systems and end-to-end data flows to ensure an appropriate level of testing.
- Understand product requirements and participate in architecture review and software development activities.
- Responsible for managing and directing the quality assurance team (onshore, near shore, and offshore).
- Develop/mentor quality assurance teammates by recruiting, selecting, orientating, and training them to meet the desired skill levels.
- Develop, implement, enforce, and improve upon quality standards, tools, and methods to assure quality across new and existing products and services.
- Manage and promote good working relationships across cross-functional teams.
- Communicate between multiple technical teams to ensure best practices are followed for system-wide success.
- Manage expectations of internal stakeholders and external interfaces.
- Monitor processes during the entire lifecycle for adherence, updating or creating new processes for improvement and minimizing waste.
- Manage periodic reporting on progress to senior management.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in quality assurance and 5 years in a leadership role within an Agile environment.
- Possess high passion for technology and solutions design.
- Experience in leading the architecture, design, development, and operations of enterprise-scale testing frameworks, processes, methodologies for diverse environments, solutions, and products.
- Experience in building and managing geographically distributed teams located in different time zones.
- Proficiency in QA methodologies, software testing principles, concepts, verification/ validation techniques, test management, test automation, cross-browser, and multi-device testing that supports different digital channels.
- Excellent analytical, research, documentation, project planning, and implementation skills.
- Skills to communicate effectively cross-functionally across various teams, organizations, and internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering effort.
- Ability to adapt and willingness to learn new technologies and techniques.
- Working knowledge of Duck Creek API and load testing is a plus.
- Experience using various bug-tracking tools and test-management tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Experience working in a CI/CD environment, preferably with a modern build release tool such as Jenkins, CircleCI, and Github Actions.
- Passion for managing the dynamics of a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Experience with Agile frameworks such as SCRUM, LEAN, and KANBAN.
- Experience with Test Driven Development and Behavior Driven Development.
