What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist/Registrar - Berkshire Medical Center, Laboratory - Shift: Variable, Per Diem position at Berkshire Medical Center?
Being knowledgeable and proficient for performing venipunctures and related procedures. Responsible for accurately identifying patients, test orders, and test requirements. Recognize how the position and duties are related to the overall function of the laboratory and patient satisfaction. Responsible for coordinating and processing all specimens. Responsibilities include accurate patient and specimen identity, accurate ordering of tests, accurate labeling of tubes and specimens.
Experience
- One year of experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
- One year of experience in a hospital environment is preferred.
Education
- Phlebotomy trained.
Additional Requirements
- Proven typing ability (40 wpm) and computer skills.
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ideal candidate will demonstrate and maintain a high level of flexibility. Proven ability to interact appropriately with the community, hospital staff and physicians and maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Must possess and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
- Ability to speak the English language in a clearly understandable manner.
- Collect specimens from patients of all ages.
- Ability to troubleshoot/maintain proper operation of business equipment preferred.
- Teach students phlebotomy skills.
- A valid Mass driver’s license is preferred.
