Job Summary
The Substance Use Milieu Specialist is the designation given to individuals who provide direct care to substance abuse patients in all phases of their inpatient stay. This position provides the patient with an initial orientation session, supports the Substance Use Counselor with discharges and provides educational group activities and milieu management on their assigned shift. The Substance Use Milieu Specialist works as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, applying his/her knowledge to assist the patient/ family to increase their coping skills throughout the patient's hospital stay and prepare them for discharge. The Substance Use Milieu Specialist will assist the Substance Use Counselor with insurance authorization/ discharges. The Substance Use Milieu Specialist professionally within the Customer Service Standards defined by Berkshire Medical Center.
Experience
- A minimum of two years experience in Substance Abuse Field is preferred.
Education and Training
- A minimum of two years' experience working in a human service field preferred.
License, Certification & Registration
- None required
