The Kennel Assistant provides daily care, feeding and exercise of boarding and daycare dogs. This role requires attention to detail, understanding and following proper feeding and sanitation procedures, and monitoring the health and well-being of animals in our care.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care to boarding pets and hospitalized patients.
- Check-in animals for boarding, record all information on boarding forms, place ID collars on all animals, and administer medications as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of eating, drinking, and elimination habits, feed and water animals according to schedules, and administer flea and tick control as necessary.
- Walk through kennel area regularly, checking each pet for any abnormal activity, and report any concerns to management.
Qualifications
- Confidence around animals and pets.
- Knowledge of proper animal restraint techniques.
- Understanding of infectious diseases and how to control and prevent their spread.
- Ability to perform duties proficiently with reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
