Job Overview:
The Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for designing
activities that enhance the residents’ physical, social and emotional
well-being while ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations. The
ideal candidate will have experience in planning and coordinating recreational
programs for seniors, strong leadership skills, and a deep commitment to
improving the quality of life for our residents.
Responsibilities:
- Must
create and maintain an Activity Board visible to all Residents, Team Members
and Family members.
- Create
and carry out an Activities Program that comply with both Federal and State
Regulations.
- participate
in Resident Care plans and other appropriate meetings, as necessary.
- Attend
daily team meetings.
- Complete
activity portion of MDS timely.
- Document
resident participation in activities in Matrix Care.
- Plan and
carry out quarterly family nights.
- Deliver,
and if needed, read mail to residents.
- Assume
responsibility for scheduling coordinating social programs for the Skilled
Nursing Facility including Resident and Team Member events.
- Work
closely with other community personnel, family members and residents to learn
residents’ interests, needs and limitations to create personalized activities
when needed.
- Must have
compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
- Must
demonstrate the ability to work reasonably as a team member as well as an
individual.
- Must have
exceptional organizational skills.
- Must have
experiences in planning, organizing and executing a varied schedule of life
enrichment opportunities for all levels of seniors from those who are very
active to those more reserved.
- Ability
to set up and train volunteers.
- Ability
to represent the Community in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability
to establish effective relationships with residents, family members, and staff.
- Responsible
for the daily activity schedule for all levels of ability seven (7) days a
week.
- Educates,
trains and encourages team members on life enrichment opportunities to make
meaningful connections.
- Develops
and pursues a varied program of meaningful activities and events that is
balanced in the physical, spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional,
vocational, and cognitive elements.
- Meets and
greets each person upon move-in to welcome them and their family and friends to
the community.
- Arranges
for community groups to come into the Community, such as pet therapy, schools,
churches, and entertainers.
- Decorates
the common areas for special events and holidays.
- Conducts
individual and group interactions.
- Maintains
inventory of supplies and manages budget.
- Leads and
develops family support group meetings.
- Interacts
with local media to promote the life enrichment program in the external
community.
- Develops
a program of outings that encourages the people who will live in Bermuda
Village to be involved in their external community.
- Is
involved with resident, personnel, and visitors, under all conditions and
circumstances.
- Is
subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, staff and
visitors.
- Communicates
with the medical staff, nursing personnel and other department supervisors and
staff.
- Meet and
greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner (visitors include anyone who
visits the community, specifically, current residents' families and friends,
prospective resident and their families, referral sources, vendors, and
regulators).
- Answer
phones appropriately, according to company and community standards.
- Communicate
professionally and cooperate with supervisor and all community personnel.
- Monitor
and evaluate customer satisfaction. Work as a part of the team to develop
appropriate actions plans to continually improve satisfaction levels.
- Any other
duties assigned by the Executive Director and/or Skilled Nursing Administrator.
Required Qualifications:
- Must pass
a criminal background check.
- Must be
able to meet all health requirements.
- Must be
able to perform duties & responsibilities, with or without reasonable
accommodation.
- Requires
current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must have
valid driver's license.
- Degree in
recreation therapy or be eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation
specialist by a recognized accrediting body; or
- Have two
years of experience in a social or recreation program within the last five
years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a
healthcare setting; or
- Be an
occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or
- Be
certified by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or
- Have
completed an activity training course approved by the State.
- Ensure
compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights.
Preferred Qualifications:

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
- Is
subject to frequent interruptions.
- Works
beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when
necessary.
- Is
subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather,
evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from
equipment, odors, etc., through the workday, as well as to reactions from dust,
disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
- Including but not limited to sitting/standing in
place for short/long periods at a time, repetitive use of hands, fingers,
wrists, arms, frequent walking, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting,
pushing/pulling/lifting 25 lbs. High people interaction, bright and low
lighting, loud noises, fluctuating temperatures, exposure to odors communicable
illness/disease and other related infectious contagions found in a
healthcare/residential setting.
