JOB SUMMARY:
Bermuda Village is seeking a passionate and energetic Part-Time Aerobics Instructor to join our wellness team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fitness and a genuine desire to promote health and wellness among our senior residents. This role involves planning and conducting aerobics classes tailored to the needs and abilities of our residents, ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment.
Job Type:
- Part-time
- Aerobics classes will be taught during morning hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Class Instruction: Design and lead group aerobics classes specifically tailored to the abilities and interests of senior residents, focusing on improving cardiovascular health, flexibility, balance, and overall physical well-being.
- Personalization: Modify exercises as needed to accommodate different fitness levels and any physical limitations of residents.
- Safety: Ensure the safety of all participants by providing clear instructions, monitoring class members, and addressing any health concerns or injuries promptly.
- Motivation: Create a positive and encouraging atmosphere to motivate residents to participate regularly and enjoy physical activity.
- Assessment: Evaluate the fitness levels of participants and track their progress, adjusting the exercise program as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the wellness team and other staff members to coordinate class schedules and participate in community-wide wellness initiatives.
- Education: Educate residents on the benefits of physical activity and provide guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle outside of class.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certifications: Yoga Certification (CYT) is preferred.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate participants.
- Experience: Previous experience teaching aerobics or group fitness classes, preferably with seniors or in a retirement community setting is preferred.
- Knowledge: Understanding of age-related physical changes and the ability to create safe and effective exercise programs for older adults.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to demonstrate exercises and lead classes for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry, and move fitness equipment as needed.
