Bernstein Shur, a New England-based law firm advising clients across the U.S. and internationally, seeks a Financial Business Intelligence Analyst for its Portland, Maine office.
Job Summary:
The Financial Business Intelligence Analyst will play an important role in the firm’s financial intelligence initiatives, focusing on data-driven insights to optimize performance and support leadership decision-making. This role requires extensive collaboration with finance, practice leaders, HR, and IT teams to develop and refine financial reporting and execution strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and manage financial dashboards and reports using Power BI and related services.
- Develop data models for reporting purposes as needed.
- Conduct financial analysis to assess firm performance and profitability.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to provide financial results and business trends.
- Create and maintain relevant training or design documentation
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity across financial systems.
- Works independently and takes ownership of assignments and IT projects as directed demonstrating strong accountability and time management.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, data analytics, or a related field, or other bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis, business intelligence, or reporting, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
- Advanced experience with Power BI for data visualization and reporting required.
- Proficiency in Excel (PivotTables, Power Query, Macros), SQL, and financial modeling required.
- Experience with financial and accounting software used in law firms, such as Elite 3E, Aderant, or Intapp, is strongly preferred.
- Strong ability to develop, maintain, and optimize financial reports, dashboards, and analytics tools required. Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, revenue tracking, and profitability analysis within a law firm setting or other professional skills office strongly preferred.
- Demonstratedstrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with partners, practice group leaders, finance teams, and IT personnel to deliver financial insights.
- Quick to learn new financial systems and data analysis tools.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced legal environment and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
