What are the responsibilities and job description for the Title Clerk - Temporary/Part-Time position at Berrien County?
DUTIES:
- Reviews and analyzes recorded documents, coordinates with local government units to verify and reconcile property records, and updates tax billing information.
- Provides customer service in person and over the phone regarding tax roll data and other county records.
- Processes billing transactions and maintains accurate financial records.
- Performs data entry and general office tasks, including filing, document organization, and correspondence.
- Assists with indexing and inspection of property-related legal documents recorded with the Register of Deeds Office.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in title research or property law.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle throughout the course of employment.
- A thorough background check will be performed prior to employment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Proficiency in typing, computer use, and general office tasks.
- Skill in working independently, following written and oral instructions, and maintaining office confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to review and search legal documents recorded with the Register of Deeds.
- Ability to interact effectively with the public and maintain professional integrity and respect for colleagues and co-workers.
