Elementary (Early Childhood Education) Teachers – These are full-time positions at Berrien Primary School and Berrien Elementary School ranging from Pre-K to Grade 5. Applicants must hold a GAPSC certificate in ECE (Elem Ed) or MG content Area (for Grades 4 or 5) OR meet Professional Qualifications in ECE/Elementary Ed by degree, semester hours, or GACE test. The exact grade level and content area for departmentalized grades has yet to be determined and may be determined based on candidate qualifications and expertise. Anticipated start date August 1, 2025.

JOB GOAL: To teach assigned students the academic, social, and manipulative skills and abilities as directed by established curriculum and perform other duties relating to student safety, control, welfare, and growth.
REPORTS TO: Principal
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree in Education or related field with valid Georgia teaching certificate or applicant can meet Berrien County Professional Qualification guidelines.
- Ability to relate well to students, parents, and co-workers,
- Physical demands - position requires significant standing and some sitting, kneeling and walking. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling will not normally exceed thirty (30) pounds, and will normally be in the area of ten (10) pounds.
- Must be able to move about the classroom and monitor student behavior.
JOB DUTIES:
- Teach one or more subjects in the school, and within the framework of the goals established by the school system.
- Plan and implement appropriate long and short-range objectives for each assigned course.
- Instruct students in subject matter, utilizing various teaching methods such as lecture, demonstration, technology, and other materials to supplement presentations.
- Continually assess student abilities as relates to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Manage the behavior of learners to ensure the environment is conducive to the learning process, and assist in the management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school grounds.
- Work in a self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
- Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student progress and behavior.
- Support and/or participate in school-wide student activities, social events, and fundraisers.
- Supervise paraprofessional performance, if applicable.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and staff development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Position works 190 days.
EVALUATION: Performance is evaluated in accordance with the personnel policy on certified evaluations.
