Teacher of Autistic Impaired – Off Site
Start Date: 2019-2020 School Year
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in Autistic Impaired or Special Education endorsement and willing to obtain an Autism Endorsement
- Demonstrated competencies in areas of interpersonal relationships, communication and organization
- Meet requirements to be Highly Qualified under NCLB/IDEA
Performance Responsibilities:
- Individualize instruction to meet the unique needs of students
- Manage a safe, comfortable learning environment
- Prepare for and participate in the IEP/IFSP process
- Provide appropriate physical intervention to ensure the safety and provision of personal care to the students
- Effectively plan and organize duties
- Demonstrate consistent, effective management of student behavior
- Train and direct paraprofessionals and other classroom assistants
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, administrators, school personnel and community representatives
- Inform supervisor of students’ progress and programmatic concerns
- Maintain accurate and timely records
- Coordinate and conduct effective parent conferences
- Demonstrate professional conduct and exhibit professional growth
- Comply with school district policies and procedures
- Effectively participate in meetings, committees, staffings, and other required district and building activities
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Comply with Medicaid billing procedures
