JOB DESCRIPTION:
Berry College invites applications for the Audrey B. Morgan Endowed Director of the Gate of Opportunity Scholarship Program position. Berry seeks a vibrant leader with a student-centric focus to manage two signature cohorts of 100 students.
The Gate of Opportunity Program is built on Berry's historical commitment to making education more accessible for all students who will benefit from and contribute to the distinctive character of a Berry education. Gate scholars foster a strong sense of community while developing their skills and purpose through LifeWorks, mentorship, and other programming. The director also oversees the Griswell scholarship program, a complementary scholarship to the Gate of Opportunity. This program is comprised of students who have shown resiliency and a commitment to their education amid adversity.
The director works closely with campus partners to manage the selection, retention, and holistic development of Gate and Griswell Scholars. Successful candidates will be comfortable with a wide scope of work, from managing high-level systems to working directly with individual students to support their success. The director acts as the liaison between other scholarship directors and admissions to coordinate the application and selection process for the College's signature scholarship programs. The director supervises and mentors a student leadership team that plans and delivers programs focused on personal and professional development.
The director is a member of the Student Affairs Division and reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs. The director is expected to contribute to the College's culture of belonging and community engagement by promoting the success of all students and advancing a good neighbor mindset within the program and division.
REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree is required, and a master's degree is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have progressive experience in recruitment, retention, or student success programming. Candidates must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Successful candidates will also have experience leading teams, partnering with a wide range of campus stakeholders, and working with college students with diverse backgrounds and identities.
