Join our team as the Safety Technician!

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Technician to join our team to help build a culture of modeling safety and maintaining a safe work environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety, conducting safety training, auditing job sites, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations. Additionally, this role includes teaching our CDL Entry Level Driver’s Training (ELDT) course and conducting accident investigations.

General Accountabilities

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of job sites to identify potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Document findings and recommend corrective actions to address safety issues.
  • Develop the syllabus and materials for and conducting safety training programs for employees.
  • Teach the CDL Entry Level Driver’s Training (ELDT) course.
  • Maintain training records and ensure all employees are up to date with required licenses and certifications.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, including safety manuals and training materials.
  • Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify underlying issues.
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of accidents and incidents.
  • Prepare detailed reports on findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure availability and proper maintenance of safety equipment.
  • Conduct regular checks and calibrations of safety equipment.
  • Ordering suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety.
  • Provides new-employee health and safety orientations including a review of the company’s safety handbook.

Required Qualifications

  • Education : Associate’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field or 3-5 years of related job experience.
  • Proven experience as a Safety Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Experience in conducting safety training and audits.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to teach and manage the CDL Entry Level Driver’s Training (ELDT) course (must have Class A CDL for at least 2 years to teach ELDT)
  • OSHA10 for Construction Certification
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, Certified Safety Professional).
  • 5-7 years of experience in the utility service and construction industry.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 : 2015 standards.
  • Experience with KPA Flex
