General Overview:
We are looking for a Network Engineer to assist with managing, maintaining and providing operational support for a client’s infrastructure network. The position will be based in our Altoona office but will require some light travel around the state and some remote capabilities can be earned. The candidate must be highly skilled yet generalized in the technology stack and extremely customer centric. It is crucial that the candidate be comfortable interacting with clients both on and off site. Experience within State Government is preferred.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Conduct network maintenance, testing, and hardware replacement activities
- Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation including a network component library (hardware and software), network diagrams, ongoing operational tasks, and support activities.
- Monitor and manage access control lists and logging on switches, routers, virtual private network (“VPN”) concentrators, and firewalls.
- Monitor and save client infrastructure network utilization statistics.
- Update and Maintain Network Diagrams and Floor Plans
- Maintain client infrastructure network access security.
- Analyze customer environments and make recommendations for improvements
- Must be able to perform basic time and task tracking
- Must be able to travel around the State
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in managing and maintaining network environments.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, standards, and architectures.
- Proficient in network devices and technologies from Fortinet, Cisco, Ubiquiti, and SonicWall.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, NSE, or equivalent are preferred.
- Experience working for an IT Managed Services Provider is preferred.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
