Qualifications: Must be certified for grades K-2.
Reports to: Principal and/or other Supervisor.
Position Description
Position Summary: The Instructional Specialist/Reading Interventionist is an individual holding a valid Arkansas teacher’s license who facilitates continuous improvement in classroom instruction by providing instructional support to teachers and providing intensive intervention for students with a focus on reading and other identified high need areas. A portion of the day will be spent supporting teachers in classrooms (particularly novice teachers), collecting and analyzing data, leading interventions/enrichments in the building, and identifying instructional gaps. The remainder of the daily duties include executing small group reading interventions for individual students that incorporate a wide range of instructional strategies. The instructional specialist/reading interventionist will be an integral part of collaborative teams in the building by assisting with data analysis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate exemplary classroom practices and possess a deep understanding of best practices
- Lead efforts to increase achievement for students by targeting areas of individual need
- Create and maintain a culture that promotes collaboration and continuous instructional improvement
- Manage and evaluate the school’s intervention programs to ensure the highest level of quality
- Identify the most at-risk students (based on data) and provide intervention services
- Network with other instructional specialists across the district to ensure a seamless K-12 instructional program
- Model lessons as needed
- A deep level of understanding of the Arkansas State Standards
- Demonstrates and reinforces positive expectations for all students to succeed
