Position Summary: 

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.  Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment by performing the following duties. 

Overall Responsibilities: 

•             Does preventative maintenance and repairs on machinery and bindery & print finishing equipment 

•             Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble 

•             Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts 

•             Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections 

•             Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments 

•             Repairs or replaces defective parts 

•             Installs special functional and structural parts in devices 

•             Lubricates and cleans parts 

•             Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts 

•             Initiates purchase order for parts and machines 

•             Repairs electrical equipment 

•             Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as conveyors, and programmable controllers 

•             Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment 

•             Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables 

•             Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices 

•             Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components 

•             Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors 

•             Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment 

•             Moves furniture and paints facilities as needed 

•             Any additional tasks that may be assigned to ensure a safe, efficient, environmentally sound work environment 

Job Requirements: 

•             Must have a valid CA Driver’s license 

•             Must have the ability to read, write and speak English 

•             Must have electrical and mechanical knowledge 

•             Must be well organized, self-starter 

•             High School Diploma or GED 

•             Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial setting in a maintenance/electrician position 

•             Experience in Print Industry Bindery Maintenance a Plus
