Job Overview
Bertelsmann is seeking a highly skilled Casing-In Operator to join our team. This role involves coordinating and executing activities required for the safe and proper trimming and casing-in of book blocks.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and interpret job orders, entering necessary information into the casing-in unit computer prior to running the job.
- Set up the machine according to job specifications, ensuring quality control of materials used.
- Feed cases, crash, paper, and glue to the machine, utilizing an electric pallet truck as needed.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, production reports, and machine log books for accurate reporting purposes.
Quality Control
- Check the quality of work being produced, including glue coverage, jacket quality, square-in case, even crease, and proper case fit.
- Ensure stackers are properly set to prevent damage to cased-in and/or jacketed books.
Maintenance and Support
- Lubricate and clean the machine as necessary on a weekly basis.
- Work with maintenance crews during preventative maintenance on a monthly basis.
- Perform operation and preventive maintenance responsibilities during scheduled maintenance.
