The Crown imprint of Penguin Random House seeks a Senior or Executive Editor to join its nonfiction team. Reporting to the Publisher, the editor will solicit, acquire, develop, and edit works of nonfiction across a wide range of categories, including practical advice and self-help, science, memoir, pop culture, and current events.

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA). Minimum two days a week in office is required.
Responsibilities :
- Acquires and develops 8-10 new book projects annually.
- Assesses potential value of submissions, researches comps, and runs P&L scenarios.
- Directly participates in auctions and negotiates deal points.
- Works with authors on drafts, outlines, and revisions of manuscripts, including structural and line edits.
- Consults with the art, production, and managing editorial departments on schedule, design, and packaging of books.
- Collaborates with the publicity, marketing, and sales teams to position titles in the marketplace
- Develops and maintains author, agent, and publisher contacts and engages in developmental work with authors.
- Prepares title information sheets; writes and edits copy.
- Keeps abreast of trends and competitive titles.
Requirements :
The salary range for the Senior Editor level is $81,500-$85,000, and $92,000-$130,000 for Executive Editor. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
