We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Senior Publicist to join the Random House publicity department. This role involves leading fiction and non-fiction media campaigns for Random House, The Dial Press, Hogarth, and Modern Library imprints. Additionally, you will develop innovative campaigns for priority paperbacks, conduct research and analysis, and build relationships to reach new audiences for reprints.
The ideal candidate will have experience in strategizing and executing PR campaigns for fiction and non-fiction books with additional focus on media opportunities for paperbacks. The role requires a network of national broadcast, print, and online media contacts, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative, deadline-driven environment. Strong communication skills, time management, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.
Specific responsibilities include :
- Planning and execution of publicity campaigns across the Random House lists each season that maximize exposure for authors and their books : this includes identifying core and opportunity readerships, pitching and securing top national and regional TV, print, radio, podcasts, online media, crafting creative pitches that put our authors into the current conversation, creating dynamic author events with bookstores and venues, independently scheduling interviews, booking travel, and maintaining detailed and comprehensive itineraries, executing galley and review copy mailings, and managing budgets and invoices for each title.
- Build trust and work closely with authors on all aspects of publicity, including mining behind-the-book content to share with media, messaging sessions to prep authors for interviews, and accompanying authors to publicity engagements.
- Work closely with the Random House, Dial, Hogarth and Modern Library publicity and marketing team, authors, agents, booksellers, and in-house partners including publishing, editorial, sales and subsidiary rights.
- High-touch author care and attentive, timely communication with authors and agents.
- Developing, researching, and maintaining strong relationships with national, online, and local media contacts for frontlist and paperback titles.
- Attending and presenting at regular sales, publishing and integrated meetings.

The salary for this position is $73,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
The position of Senior Publicist is a hybrid position with regular in-office responsibilities, which include but are not limited to mailings, in-person meetings, and escorting authors to events and media. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway in New York.
