The company’s products are manufactured in Tampa, Florida and are sold through a high-quality worldwide dealer network. Job Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for procuring the material needed from our network of suppliers and third-party providers to meet the demands of production. This position requires an individual who has excellent communication and organizational skills with high attention to detail. This is a key position to collaborate with our vendor base to negotiate terms of sale, award business, and manage supplier performance.

Essential Functions:

• Place orders based on production demand to meet the build schedule of the business
• Negotiates pricing with vendors to obtain best price and delivery
• Manages purchases to maximize cash flow and to meet inventory targets of the business
• Accesses vendor web interface for online order management
• Disposition defective material with suppliers and initiate returns and/or replacements
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities to reduce material costs
• Design, implement, and launch continuous improvement projects to improve material availability, quality and achieve annual cost reduction targets
• Lead the supplier quality management program with the suppliers
• Identify open actions and work with internal departments for closure
• Adheres to Bertram’s purchasing policies, processes, and procedures
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred
• 3 to 5 years’ experience working in a high paced manufacturing environment
• Marine industry experience preferred
• Bilingual English-Spanish preferred
• Relevant supply chain, materials sourcing, inventory management, finance, vendor and/or project management experience
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Lean Manufacturing experience, including Kanban, a plus
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Strong logic, critical thinking, strategic thinking, and reasoning skills and ability to make independent decisions
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple duties, projects at one time and resolve conflict in a professional manner
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication
• Ability to maintain a positive working environment
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs at a time
