Job Purpose
Performs dynamic and static evaluations of vehicles including analysis for vehicles during the series, pre-series phases for functional, geometric and squeak and rattle (S/R) issues.
Performs dynamic and static evaluations of vehicles. This includes performing an evaluation according to a standard checklist performing evaluations based on voice of the customer.
Responsibilities
- Perform Broad Validation according to checklist and perform pre analysis of issues found including documentation.
- Performs dynamic and static evaluations of vehicles according to the customer standards including required documentation of issues found.
- Perform analysis for issues found for functional or geometric issues including documentation.
- Perform comfort analyses for exterior and interior systems including documentation.
- Performing / running durability test equipment i.e. robots, climate chamber, control units, shaker test benches, pneumatic / hydraulic systems.
- Perform initial evaluation of launch vehicles on inner test track or 4 post shaker in order to identify/document customer relevant disturbing noises (S&R: Squeak and Rattle).
- Perform base root cause analysis with mechanical analytical/troubleshooting skills.
- Generate analysis report with findings, document problems in relevant systems, and submit information to responsible S&R specialist. Validate containments and solutions for noise topics.
- Provide weekly overview of series analysis topics to management team.
- Validate base analysis work used by process partners to submit series analysis request.
- Use analytical skills and tools to inspect vehicles with water leaks to determine source of water ingress.
- Review Engineering Change Process (ECP) requests, proves ECP checklist, and inform corresponding specialist of changes. Processing of checklist will require research of part change and collaboration with process partners from other departments to determine scope of engineering change.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Mechanical or related dicipline.
- 1 year of technical experience either by internship/co-op or professional experience. Experience in BIW (Body in White) OR Interiors is helpful.
- Automotive experience to perform mechanical/electromechanical analysis/troubleshooting and ability to create comprehensive analysis report
- CAD experience (i.e. AutocCad, NX, CATIA). CATIA v5 or v6 preferred.
- Problem-solving ability
- Proficient use of MS Office tools
- An Associate's degree in Engineering discipline 2 years or more of work experience is also acceptable
