What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finishing Process Engineer position at Bescast, Inc.?
We are seeking a Finishing Process Engineer to support our back-end operations. This position is responsible for process improvement and technical support across departments including Grit Blast, Grind, Degrease, Chemical Processing, X-Ray, and MPI/FPI. The role is hands-on and focused on developing process controls, supporting operator training, and improving product quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate back-end manufacturing processes and materials to improve product quality and reliability
- Develop and maintain router documentation and work instructions
- Lead and support continuous improvement efforts, particularly in FPI and yield performance
- Train and provide technical guidance to production personnel
- Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to procedures and process discipline
- Contribute to PFMEA reviews and ensure thorough risk evaluation before changes are implemented
- Coordinate with maintenance to support equipment functionality and reliability
- Promote and enforce safety, compliance, and 6S standards within assigned departments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred
- Two or more years of relevant experience in investment casting or a related industry preferred
- Knowledge of SPC, DOE, technical drawings, and precision measurement tools
- Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship)
- Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform hands-on work as required
