Job Title: Child Nutrition Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Maintenance Director and Child Nutrition Director
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in equipment maintenance preferred.
- Experience in commercial kitchen equipment maintenance and repair Required.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems related to food service equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and Schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and repair kitchen equipment efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations for food service environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with school staff and vendors.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in varying environment conditions.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between multiple school locations if necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, food warmers, and other appliances.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with kitchen equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to extend the lifespan of kitchen equipment and reduce unexpected failures.
- Install new kitchen equipment and ensure proper setup, calibration. and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment replacements.
- Work collaboratively with school cafeteria staff to address equipment concerns and provide guidance on proper use and care.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety codes, including local, state, and federal regulations governing food service operations.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to food service operations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance schedules and standard operating procedures for kitchen equipment upkeep.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Salary in adherence and compliance with the approved salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Service Personnel.
