Job Title: Coach
Qualifications:
- Applicant must have successful coaching experience and knowledge of the technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general.
- Applicant should be able to work with young men and women and willing to put in long hours for the development of a successful athletic and physical education program.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Principal and Athletic Director
Job Goal: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill and appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Plans and schedules a regular program of practices and game preparations.
- Works closely with the athletic director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
- Recommends and supervises the purchases and care of equipment, supplies and uniforms, as appropriate.
- Oversees the safely conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times.
- Has shared responsibility and knowledge of the care of grass, playing fields and gymnasium floors.
- Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in this sport.
- Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all time, establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
Terms of Employment: One (1) year contract
Salary: Appropriate salary scheduled coaching supplement
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation Athletic Personnel.
